Buddhist liturgy

Gongyo (Japanese勤 行) comes from the Japanese, and can be translated as " diligent pursuit ".

The term is used in a variety of Buddhist schools and refers to the ritual chanting of Buddhist sutras and mantras sections. Most is such a prayer ceremony, whether performed in a temple or household, in front of a religious object of worship ( Honzon ), such as a statue, scroll or pedigree. Instead Gongyo such a religious ceremony as O- tsutome (お勤め) or Shojin (精进) is called.
