It operates scheduled passenger services and provides cargo and passenger charter flights in the regions of the Northwest Territories, Alberta and the Yukon. History

The company was founded in 1970 by Joe McBryan called Buffalo Joe, founded with the purchase of a DC-3. The charter services from the home base Yellowknife were so successful that he soon had to hire other equipment and personnel to finally be able to cope with the orders within the Northwest Territories and around the Great Slave Lake, each with a dozen DC-3 and DC-4. To date, the company flies only a fixed line between Yellowknife and Hay River on the opposite shore.

Around 1980 closed many mining companies in the Northwest Territories, which were supplied by Buffalo Airways of goods, fuels and fuels. The result was the bankruptcy of Buffalo Airways. The machines were sold to a DC-3 to begin a restart. New diamond deposits near Yellowknife gave new impetus to the company again. The fleet was increased by more DC - 3 and DC -4, which were bought at auctions, again. Today Buffalo Airways transported with excess of 60 -year-old machine back anything that can be transported by an airplane.
