Buffalo Lake (Alberta)

BW

No outlet; slightly salty

The Buffalo Lake is a lake in the Canadian province of Alberta.

The Buffalo Lake is located 40 km northeast of Red Deer. The 93.5 km ² lake is situated at an altitude of 780 meters and borders the counties of Camrose, Stettler and Lacombe. The lake is divided into two larger and a smaller pool. Main tributary is the Parlby Creek. The outlet of the lake formed by the Tail Creek, a left tributary of the Red Deer River, where the water level exceeds the height of 782 m, which since 1950 was no longer the case. Due to the lack of runoff water is slightly salty.

On Buffalo Lake is the Rochon Sands Provincial Park. In Lake northern pike and burbot occur.
