Bugatti Type 57

Bugatti Type 57 Ventoux

The Bugatti Type 57 is one of Jean Bugatti, son of founder Ettore Bugatti, designed the vehicle. A total of 710 vehicles of the Type 57 series from 1934 to 1940 were produced. A 1936er Type 57 SC is currently regarded as the most expensive car in the world.

Most variants of the Type 57 series used a 3257 cc in-line eight -cylinder engine with dual overhead camshafts, variants with compressor wear by the letter C in the type designation.

There were two basic variants of the Type 57:

  • The normal Type 57
  • The lowered Type 57 S

As a successor to the Bugatti Type 64 was planned, of which only a prototype is obtained. Chassis and engine of the Type 57 were also reused for the 1951 Bugatti Type 101.

The Type 57 was offered from the factory with the following body styles:

  • Galibier (4- door sedan )
  • Ventoux ( 2 2- seater coupe )
  • Atalante (2- seater coupe )
  • Stelvio ( 2 2- seater convertible )
  • Aravis (2- seater convertible )

Only in small numbers, the variants were

  • Aerolithe and
  • Atlantic

Built.

In addition, there are numerous Bugatti Type 57, which were dressed by renowned body manufacturers. The Bugatti Type 57 was also featured as a technical basis for the 57G Grand Prix racing car, as well as the later Bugatti Type 59

From this model, only four were built, of which two received. One of its owners is Ralph Lauren ( 2013). This model is used in the well known computer game series " Grand Theft Auto " as a model for the Z -Type contained in the game.
