Geography

Buhl is located approximately six kilometers south-west of the Tübingen city center and around four kilometers east of Rottenburg am Neckar in the Neckar valley.

The district area of the village is 641 hectares.

History

Buhl was first mentioned in 1100 as " de Buhile ". Around 1120, Edel Free cited by Buhl, in the 12th century came the place to the Counts of Hohenberg. From 1292 Buhl was awarded as fief to Amman from Rottenburg, which it occupied until 1502. Then it was divided. Among others, the Lords of Ehingen Kilchberg and the Lords of stone to stone were the legal owners. The latter fitted from 1550, the Buhler castle. The sovereignty over Buhl was responsible for Austria. The fief was repeatedly drawn in and pledged again.

1805 Buhl came to Württemberg and the upper office Rottenburg has been assigned. In its resolution 1938 Buhl came to the district of Tübingen. To July 1, 1971 Buhl was incorporated to Tübingen as a district and thus lost independence.

Coat of arms

The blazon of the municipal coat of arms former is: Azure, two diagonally crossed silver halberds. The product relative to the old town of Buhl nobility of arms is no longer guided by the incorporation in 1971 as the official coat of arms.

Culture and sights

Located in the well-preserved historical center is the Renaissance castle Buhl. Also worth seeing are the Bühlertal nature reserve and the private farming museum Hauser.
