Bukan

Bukan (Persian بوکان ) in Kurdish also called Bokan, is a town in north - western Iran.

Bukan has about 169 041 inhabitants and is the second largest city of the province of West Azerbaijan. It is located south of Lake Urmia about 1,300 meters above sea level. The name " Bukan " is derived from the Kurdish word " Buk ", which means " bride ". The people of Bukan consists of Kurds.
