Bukowsko
Bukowsko [ bu'kɔfskɔ ] is a village of 1,700 inhabitants in the municipality Bukowsko Sanocki powiat, Subcarpathian Voivodship in the Polish.
History
For the first time the city was mentioned as Bucowsko in 1361, the name comes from the Polish word Buk (German: beech, beech) back. Other forms of the name were Bukowy read (German Buchenwald), Bukosko 1785, Ukr. Bukivs'ko 1851 and lemkisch: Butiwsko. A parish church was built in 1648. He belonged until 1772 to Sanok land, and from 1772 to 1914 to Sanok District in province of Galicia, tax district Bukowsko.
During the German occupation of Poland ( 1939-1944/45 ) Bukowsko belonged to the county captaincy Sanok.
On April 4, 1946, the place of troops of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA ) was attacked, looted it and killed many people.
Bukowsko has a district court, there is also a primary school, a manor, a post office and a brewery. Weekly Monday is market day.
