Buku Mera

District

Buku Mera ( Bucumera ) is a village in the district Liquiçá in East Timor. It is located in the mountains at 812 m above the sea, southeast of Bazartete in Suco Leorema ( subdistrict Bazartete ). This is also the Foho Buku Mera ( 1079 m), one of the many mountains of East Timor.

The area was in September 1999, during the riots after the independence referendum, the scene of rape and murder by pro-Indonesian militia Besi Merah Putih.
