Bulbous corpuscle

Ruffini corpuscles are among the mechanoreceptors and were after the Italian anatomist Angelo Ruffini (1864-1929) named. It is slowly adapting stretch receptors that occur in the skin, dura mater, iris, ciliary body, and joint capsules. In the skin they are in the reticular layer of the dermis. The Ruffini 's corpuscles of the joint capsule register the position of the joints and its displacement speed.

The Ruffini corpuscles, the shape of the flattened ends, open cylinder. Through the openings occur collagen fiber bundle on the one hand and on the other out again. Between the collagen fiber bundles, the ends of nerve fibers are anchored.
