Buldhana district

The district Buldhana ( Buldana also; Marathi: बुलढाणा जिल्हा ) is one of 35 districts in the state of Maharashtra in India. The city of Buldhana ( Buldana ) is the administrative center of the district. The last census in 2011 showed a total population of 2,586,258 people.

History

From pre-Christian times to the year 1345, the area - such as the whole region - ruled by various Buddhist and Hindu rulers. The first known state was the Mauryan Empire, the last non-Muslim dynasty were the Gond. After decades of military conflict with Muslim rulers in northern India took place in 1345 occupation by Muslim soldiers. After that prevailed until the year 1724 various Muslim dynasties ( Sultanate of Delhi, Bahmani, Deccan sultanates and the Mughals Gross ). Although officially still part of the Great Mughal Empire it was effective from 1724 to 1818 ruled by the Maratha Bhonsle dynasty. Then it fell to the Nizam of Hyderabad and belonged until 1853 to the State of Hyderabad. Then it was administered by the British as part of the province of Berar and belonged to the district of West Berar. In 1864 it was known as South West Berar an independent district. Already in 1865 the new district was renamed Mehkar. After laying, the main town of Mehkar by Buldhana in 1867 he received the present name. Buldhana 1903 was part of the province of Central Provinces and Berar. With the independence of India in 1947 and the reorganization of the country in 1950 was part of the new state of Madhya Pradesh. In 1956, the Indian state was divided and the area came to Bombay State. This state was also dissolved in 1960 and the district Buldhana part of the new Indian state of Maharashtra.

Population

At the last census 2011 2.586.258 inhabitants were counted. Of these, 1.33756 million men ( 51.72 percent) and 1,248,698 women. Among the Dalits were 2011 470.895 ( 18.2 percent), the Adivasi 229 450 ( 8.9 per cent ) people. Of the total number of inhabitants lived 2011 548.860 persons ( 21.22 percent) in urban areas. Thus lived almost 4 out of 5 residents in the country. The majority of the population of the district of Buldhana speaks Marathi. In the whole district there are 1,297 inhabited villages.

As everywhere in India grows, the population in the district of Buldhana decades strongly. Although the increase declined in the years 2001-2011 to around 15 percent ( 15.85% ), but is still significant in absolute terms. Strongest town inhabitants of the district is Khamgaon. Other important cities with a population of more than 25,000 people are the chief town Buldhana, Malkapur, Shegaon, Chikhli, Mehkar, Nandura and Jalgaon Jamod.
