Bülent İplikçioğlu

Bülent İplikçioğlu (* 1952 in Afyon ) is a Turkish historian and epigraphists.

Life

İplikçioğlu studied from 1970 to 1982 at the University of Ankara and Vienna History, Ancient History, Classical Philology and Classical Archaeology. In Vienna he received his doctorate in 1982 with a thesis on " The representatives of the senatorial kingdom service in Asia to Diocletian in the mirror of the Ephesian inscriptions ". Until 1984 he was Univ. Assistant at the Department of Ancient History at the University of Ankara, 1984-1986 auxiliary lecturer at the Department of Ancient History at the Marmara University in Istanbul, where he habilitated in 1986 and appointed in 1992 professor of ancient history was.

İplikçioğlu deals mainly with the history and epigraphy of ancient Asia Minor. From 1976 to 1991 he took over as epigraphists part in the excavations of the Austrian Archaeological Institute in Ephesus and leads since 1989 within the framework of the Austrian Academy of Sciences own epigraphic projects in southwestern Turkey ( Westpamphylien and North and Ostlykien ) by.

He is a member of the German and Austrian Archaeological Institute.
