Bullewijk

Bullewijk is a district in Amsterdam Zuidoost in the province of North Holland and had along with Amstel III. 150 inhabitants in 2009.

History

Bullewijk was created by the reclamation of the polder Holendrechter and Bullewijkerpolder in the east of Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. 1875 was commissioned by the Municipality approval for a moor colony ( Veenderij ) and was named De nieuwe Bullewijk. 1908, the bog was also drained.

The district got its name in 1978 after the river " Bullewijk " and is bounded by the railway line from Amsterdam to Arnhem, on the west side by the Utrechtseweg, on the north by the Burgemeester Stramanweg and on the south by the table mountain trail. Bullewijk is located in the industrial area " Amstel III ". " Amstel I" is the official name for the industrial area Overamstel, " Amstel II" is part of " Amstel I", however, belongs to the municipality Ouder - Amstel and ' Amstel III " as the third industrial park in Amsterdam South East (Zuid oost ). Bullewijk is currently (as of 2013) is also still an industrial area. This is among other things the hospital Academic Medical Centre (AMC ) with an area of ​​230,000 square meters and with a total of around 9,000 employees and patients.

The Hogeschool van Amsterdam ( HvA ) and the recreation area ( " recreatiegebied " ) de Hoge Dijk are in Bullewijk. Due to the continuous development of the area and residential opportunities are to be realized. Next to this are the Heineken Music Hall and the " University Hospital " at the University of Amsterdam ( UvA ), and the metro station Bullewijk.

Near the district the football stadium Amsterdam Arena is located.
