Bullock County, Alabama

The Bullock County is a county located in the state of Alabama in the United States. According to census 2010, the population was 10,914. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Union Springs.

Geography

The County is located in southeastern Alabama, is in the east about 50 km from Georgia, located in the south about 90 km from the U.S. state of Florida and has an area of ​​1621 square kilometers, of which three square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Macon County, Russell County, Barbour County, Pike County and Montgomery County.

History

Bullock County was formed on December 5, 1866 from parts of Barbour County, Macon County, Montgomery County and Pike County. It was named after Edward C. Bullock, a colonel in the Confederate Army.
