The Bültsee between Schleswig and Eckernförde south of Kosel, on the Schnaaper Sander in the north of Schleswig -Holstein. It is a Toteisloch that has arisen in the last ice age ( Weichsel glaciation ).

The lake is considered oligotrophic ( nutrient-poor ) and is the location of plants that are found only in nutrient-poor waters, such as Wasserlobelie, quillwort, beach Ling and Wechselblütiges milfoil. The lakeshore are breeding area of the river plover.

The lake and its shore area are under protection since 1982. The intention therefore is the

The lake is fed by groundwater and has no additions or drain.

On the west bank there is a swimming area ( between Eckernförde and Fleckeby near the B 76).
