The Federal Highway 253 (abbreviated as BAB 253) - Short form: Highway 253 (abbreviated as A 253 ) - Harburg or bypass is a short highway in the south of Hamburg. It is only indirectly linked to other highways - over the Wilhelmsburger Reichsstrasse ( B 4, B 75 ), which seamlessly connects to the north with the A 253 and also four lanes, but is not expanded in the usual motorway standard. This road will then turn seamlessly into the A 252

Under the proposed extension of the A 26 as a port crossbar of the A 7 to A 1, A is to be connected 253 via a motorway junction or triangle to the motorway network.

In the section between Winsener road and Hörstener street is the only two-storey road construction Hamburg: Below the elevated A 253 passes the Hanover Street.
