Bundi

Bundi (Hindi: बूंदी, Bundi ) was one of the princely states of Rajputs in present-day Rajasthan. The state is named after the capital of the same name.

The princely state was founded in 1342 by the Hada - Chauhan Rajput Rao Deva, a descendant of Rao Visaladeva of Ajmer. Rao Surtan Singh (reigned 1531-1544 ) joined in 1533 the Mughal emperor Akbar in which enlarged the state Bundi. His successor, Surjan Singh (reigned 1544-85 ) was titled Raja Rao. Bundi in 1941 had an area of ​​5608 km ² and 250,000 inhabitants. From 1894 to 1950, the state maintained its own postal service and issued its own postage stamps.
