Bunny (1998 film)

Bunny is an American computer-animated short film by Chris Wedge from the year 1998.

Action

An old, widowed Hasenfrau prepares a carrot cake. The oven is preheated and it just sifts the flour, as a resistance to the bulb flying moth disrupts their work. The moth pushes against the wedding photo of the doe with her husband and is finally transported from the rabbit woman of the house.

The hares woman puts the wedding photo straight and just looking at the image melancholic. Outside is heard the moth that flies against long as the screen door at the window until the rabbit woman slams the window. The bunny hops on her walker laboriously back to the table and starts to grate the carrots. Suddenly the moth encounters a casement window and flapping around in the apartment. The doe makes hunting process, a glass gets broken - after a targeted strike lands the moth in the cake mix, the doe pushes the piece in the oven. Frantically, she pulls the timer on, finally sits down exhausted and falls asleep.

Remove from the oven suddenly blue light and the oven penetrates starts to vibrate until finally swings open the oven door. Inside the moth and the doe floats creeps into the oven and followed the beast. The oven door to strikes. The doe hovering in the sky, now also provided with wings, a blinding light. Many moths follow her. The wedding photo at the home of Mrs. Hare is alive: She looks at him lovingly and clings to him. Two semi-transparent moths merge with the photo and give hare hare man and woman wings.

Production

The title Bend Down the Branches, which runs to the film credits, was written and sung by Tom Waits.

Awards

Bunny won the 1999 Academy Award in the category " Best Animated Short Film ". It was the first Oscar, Chris Wedge received.

On the Drama Short Film Festival Chris Wedge won the Special Prize in the animation for Bunny 1999.
