Buôn Ma Thuột

Buon Ma Thuot (also Ban Me Thuot or Ban Me) is the capital of Dak Lak province in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. The city has about 340,000 inhabitants.

Buon Ma Thuot was built on volcanic subsoil. The city is surrounded by spruce and pine forests. The volcanic soil is very fertile. For this reason, coffee plants and rubber trees are planted in the area around Buon Ma Thuot. Furthermore, there are large vineyards and its own type of wine.

Because of the military airfields in Buon Ma Thuot, the city was in the Vietnam War of strategic importance. It is inhabited mainly by Bahnars and Jarai. The Buon Ma Thuot Airport is near the city center ( 7 km).
