Buphthalmum salicifolium
Oxeye ( Buphthalmum salicifolium )
Called the oxeye ( Buphthalmum salicifolium ), also Weidenblättriges ox-eye or ox eye, belongs to the sunflower family ( Asteraceae).
Features
The perennial herbaceous plant reaches heights of growth of about 30 to 60 cm. The upright, usually branched, short-haired stem is leafy evenly alternate and hollow under the basket.
The leaves are lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate - runs, lower long-petiolate, top sitting with verschmälertem reason.
The bloom conditions, either singly or a few at the stem end. The tongue of the ray florets golden yellow, 2.5 mm wide and 11 to 16 mm long.
The flowering period extends from May to September.
Occurrence
The kalkstete plant prefers lime - poor grassland, (rare in wet meadows ), dry forests of the submontane to subalpine altitudinal zone.
In Austria, often to very often in all provinces. In Switzerland, just as widespread.
Possible confusion
If confused by the uninitiated often with arnica. In this, however, the leaves are opposite.
