Bureau International de l'Edition Mecanique

BIEM (Bureau International des Sociétés Gérant les Droits d' Enregistrement et de Reproduction Mécanique ) is an international organization in the field of music business (including literary and dramatic productions ), based in the French Neuilly -sur -Seine.

It currently represents 51 national societies from 54 countries (as of April 2010) with copyright issues in relation to other international organizations such as the World Intellectual Property Organization ( World Intellectual Property Organization, WIPO) and helps with contentious issues among others of its member organizations with one another. These include, for example, the German Society for Musical Performing and Mechanical Reproduction Rights ( GEMA), the Swiss SUISA or the Austrian Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers ( AKM ).
