Bureau of International Expositions

The Bureau International des Expositions (short form BIE, dt: International Bureau of Exhibitions ) was founded in Paris on 22 November 1928, the goal of a common international commission to design and tendering of world exhibitions ( Today Expo) and other international Fairs ( International Horticultural Exhibition etc.) to be formed; thus determines the organization about the venue, the regulations and the advertising of the fairs ( comparable to the committee with the IOC ). In the public criticism of the BIE was because of the controversial World's Fair 1964/1965 in New York due to poor attendance and demonstrations by civil rights movements in front of the fairgrounds.

The BIE funded through contribution fees ( currently 163 member countries).
