Burg Kammerstein

The ruins stone chamber is a ruined hill fort in the town of chambers in Liesingtal in the district of Leoben in Styria.

Location

The remains of the castle standing on a rocky outcrop in the north west of the town moat chambers in the Valley of Liesing at an altitude of 996 m above sea level. A.

History

The ruin is dated in its foundations in the 12th century, it is mentioned in documents in 1150. During this time, a noble family of high outdoor chambers is called multiple times. Whether the castle may actually be associated with this generation, or with another lying nearby castle (upper chambers, honor rock), which is now also ruin, is not provable.

From the 13th century the system to possess the Ehrenfelser who were vassals of the Styrian part of men. In whose possession was also about 400 meters further west castle upper chambers. This family remained owner of the castle until its expiry at the beginning of the 15th century. 1513 the castle came into the possession of Siegmund von Dietrich Stein, who wanted to expand the plant. It came about through the influence of the Emperor Maximilian I (who his father was ) not well but renovations were carried out ( plaster of the keep, painted Eckquader ). Already in 1542, the castle is described as forfeited by Georg Vischer it is marked as a ruin in 1681.

Plant

The castle had received an extension of 70 by 40 meters, it is still the four-to five-story donjon, remnants of Torbaues, of the great hall and some walls with a wall height of about six meters.
