Burger-Highlife
History
The late 70s, early 80s who emigrated many Ghanaian nationals abroad. Also in Germany, especially in the cities of Berlin, Dusseldorf and Hamburg, many of them found a new home. The emergence of Burger Highlife is seen in this context: Ghanaian artists found in Germany a source of inspiration that shaped the musical mix of highlife, disco and funk and co-determined the typical style of Burger Highlife. The Specific Burger Highlife style they created a subculture that caught on around the world in Ghana, the Ghanaian exile community as well. George Darko, Lee Dodou, Rex Gyamfi and Charles Amoah are just a few of the notable pioneers; internationally successful songs like " Akoo ti brofo " are prime examples of their success.
