Burger Lambrechts

Burger Lambrechts (born 3 April 1973 in Phalaborwa ) is a South African shot putter.

Lambrechts won at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, as well as the Pan-African Games in Johannesburg in 1999 and 2003 in Abuja. 1998 and 2010, he was African champions at the Track Championships Africa in Brazzaville in 2004 he won the silver medal behind compatriot Janus Robberts.

At the global level Lambrechts had mostly a disadvantage against the dominant athletes from North America and Eastern Europe. He scored Noteworthy results as tenth the World Athletics Championships 1997 in Athens, ninth of the IAAF World Championships in 1999 in Seville, as well as a fourth of the Athletics World Cup in 1998 in Athens. In his two Olympic appearances in 2000 in Sydney and 2004 in Athens, he could not qualify for the final,. In between, he was banned for two years after he had been tested in February 2001 at a doping test positive for Stanozolol.

After five years of injury Lambrechts returned in 2010 and won at the African Championships in 2010 and 2012 the title.

Lambrechts is 1.98 m tall and weighs 138 kg.
