Geography

Burgdorf is located about 9 km northeast of Eisleben on the road from hall to Harzgerode between Polleben and Schwittersdorf. In place of meat stream, which flows north to evil castle rises.

History

The settlement of the district of Burgdorf began in the Neolithic period. They found remains of a settlement and a burial ground of Baalberge culture on the hills in the south of the village. From the Bronze Age there are traces of two settlements and four stone packing grave fields. Other archaeological finds date from the Iron Age to the late Roman Empire. In a resulting 881-899 Directory of tithing ( Hersfeld tithe directory) of the monastery of Hersfeld Burgdorf ( Burcdorpf ) is mentioned as requiring a tenth place in the frieze field. Structures

The village church of St. Andrew is a simple Romanesque building from the late 12th century. It was remodeled in 1815. The west tower has the lowest floor a barrel vault. The single-nave church has a flat ceiling and a small porch with fall post portal with tympanum and ornaments.
