Burhaniyya

History

The Burhani - tariqa spread for the first time in the life of Sheikh Muhammad Uthman Abd al - Burhani († 1983). Before that, she usually consisted of only a small circle of dervishes and the Sheikh of the Tariqa who passed on his knowledge to the respective successor.

Under Sheikh Muhammad Uthman took the Tariqa in Sudan and Egypt, many supporters - in the 1970s, the estimates were in Egypt alone in the hundreds of thousands. Under the leadership of his son, Sheikh Ibrahim Muhammad Uthman († 2003), the Tariqa has widespread also in non- Arab countries, primarily in Europe and the USA.

The Order, which is under the present leadership of Sheikh Muhammad Sheikh Ibrahim Sheikh Muhammad Uthman, which in turn is the son of Sheikh Ibrahim, today has a large number of members. Throughout the world there are hundreds of Burhani communities.
