The first Championship

The club had in the past no fixed home stadium and due to the changing locations also not a big fan base. However, this could be established to Ayutthaya with moving gradually. The inhabitants of the city took the club more and more as hers was. This was especially clear to remember in the 2008 season, as the audience figures increased. One reason might lay in the fact that the club played a more than good season, at the end of the championship was surprising. At the end of the season they faced the defending champion FC Chonburi.

A new era

Before the start of the 2009 season, there were discrepancies between the fans and their clubs. First was in the room that the club would change its name to FC Ayutthaya. What the fans of the club were very pleased. Would this still produce an even closer bond with the city and fans. Winning the championship entitled the club to participate in the qualification for the Asian Champions League. This was probably ultimately the reason why the club is not renamed FC Ayutthaya. The owner, namesake and sponsor of the club, did not change from the perspective of marketing, a safe legitimate interest in the name. Added to this was, obtained a renewed relocation of the association into account. This brought the supporters of the club even more. At the end of the club remained in Ayutthaya and the stadium was renovated. An adaptation of the club name there was, despite everything. This also went hand in hand with a new club crest. The club called itself now no longer with his full name Provincial Electricity Authority Football Club, but just PEA FC.

In qualifying for the AFC Champions League 2009 PEA met the Singapore Armed Forces. In just one game, it was about the place in the next qualifying round of the competition. Already the 6th minute, the PEA went through Apipu Suntornpanavej 1-0 lead. After the Armed Forces leveled in the 29th minute by Kenji Arai were no further goals and the game went into overtime. There it was brought Therdsak Chaiman of his club by a penalty on the road to victory. The PEA lost the game at the end even with 1:4. With the defeat, the club qualified only for the AFC Cup. There he met in the group stage at Binh Duong, Home United and the club Valencia. By the final day, the club still have a chance of progressing had. In the last game of the group was to be recovered in their own hands in the next round of the club. Against Home United they lost with 1:3 and then dropped out. Also in the league PEA had problems to get in the way. For the summer break, the club occupies only 12th place and was in danger of relegation. In May 2009, the long-time coach Prapol Pongpanich was deprived of his office. After the poor results in the first half of the season, the pressure of the fan base was too large. Prapol is now team manager of the team. His successor on the position of the head coach was Thongsuk Sampahungsith. The club finished the 2009 season ranked number nine.
