Burke Henry

Henry Burke ( born January 21, 1979 in Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who stands since 2009 for HDD Olimpija Ljubljana in the Austrian Hockey League contract.

Career

Burke Henry began his career as a hockey player with the Brandon Wheat Kings, for he held until 1999 in the Canadian junior Western Hockey League was active from 1995 and with which he won the Ed Chynoweth Cup in the 1995/96 season. He himself was able to convince in the WHL and was elected to the first and second All-Star team of the Eastern Conference of the WHL in 1998 and 1999. He was also the league in the season 1997/98 the best scorer of all Preparer and Defenders. Already in NHL Entry Draft 1997, he was selected in the third round as a total 73 players from the New York Rangers. For their farm team, the Hartford Wolf Pack, he played from 1999 to 2001 in the American Hockey League. He was then released in exchange for Chris St. Croix from the Rangers to the Calgary Flames. With these he stood in the 2001/ 02 season, exclusively for their AHL farm team Saint John Flames on the ice.

From 2002 to 2004, Henry played for the Norfolk Admirals in the AHL, where he parallel for their partners, the Chicago Blackhawks, with 39 missions in the National Hockey League came in which he scored two goals and had six assists in the period. Then the links Sagittarius awarded a contract as a free agent with the Florida Panthers, for their AHL farm team San Antonio Rampage he gave two assists in 24 games in the season 2004/ 05 during the lockout in the NHL. For the rest of the season he was eventually loaned out to league rival Milwaukee Admirals. For the season 2005/ 06 he moved first to Europe, where he received a contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg of the Austrian Hockey League. In 56 games he scored 25 points scorer for the Salzburg, of which ten goals.

For the season 2006/ 07, the Canadians remained in Europe and joined there Tappara Tampere of the Finnish SM- liiga to. For the Finns, he was also able to convince and to fight for a regular place. The following season he started at Linköpings HC in the Swedish Elitserien, which he, however, already left after only nine games back to aground for the following year and a half for AaB Ishockey in the Danish AL-Bank Ligaen. The 2009/10 season began, the former NHL player with the Flint Generals of the International Hockey League. Already after a goal and three assists in seven seasons, he decided a change to the Slovenian top club HDD Olimpija Ljubljana, for which he has since then played in the Austrian Hockey League and with it in the 2010/11 season in the first playoff round failed at his former club from Salzburg.
