Burlington (Ontario)

The city of Burlington [ bəɹlɪŋtən ] (City of Burlington, Ontario, Canada) is located on the north shore of Lake Ontario, about 50 km southwest of Toronto and 10 km north-east of Hamilton.

Burlington was created in 1873 from the villages of Wellington Square and Port Nelson. Since 1914, Burlington is a city. The port now serves only the recreational marine environment. The city is Canada's premier business district, the Golden Horseshoe, and is a commercial and industrial center.
