Burma Plate

The Burma Plate is a small tectonic plate ( microplate ) that lies between the Indian plate to the west and the Sunda plate to the east. To the north it borders with the Eurasian plate, on the south by the Australian Plate. Due to the effects of the subduction of the Indian plate under the Burma plate and the Sunda plate, the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004 and the earthquake off Sumatra in 2005 emerged.
