Breeding history

The Burmilla breed, created in 1981 in the UK by the intersection of two other cat breeds, which are also reflected in the name; a female Burma ( ancestress: Faberge ) and a male Persian ( progenitor: Sanquist ) with the coat pattern Chinchilla. The Fédération Internationale Féline ( FIFe ) recognized in 1996 as a separate breed to.

Racial characteristics

The body of this breed is most powerful, yet slim with stocky legs, the rear legs are a bit longer than the front legs. The Burmilla carries the legacy of the chinchilla. The reason is silver-white, only the tips of the hairs show the respective color of the Burmilla. Face, legs and tail bear the relevant color variety, the entire underside of the cat (abdomen, chin ..) is silver (or white ).

Burmillas exist in the varieties of black (main color), blue ( whitening of black), brown, lilac, cinnamon, fawn, red and cream. Also Tortie / Tortie in these colors. The Burmilla is available in 2 variations Tipped - also called Agouti: Shaded / shading: The color of each hair tip is about 1 /3 of the hair length. And Shell: The color of each hair tip is about 1 /8 of the hair length.

Burmilla cats are balanced and very people- oriented characters who are very affectionate and playful requiring notification.
