Burnt Weeny Sandwich

Burnt Weeny Sandwich is an album by Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention. It was published after the dissolution of the first Mothers lineup in 1970 and consists of material recorded from 1967 to 1969. Framed between two doo-wop pieces there is a group of instrumental pieces, the style of classical orchestral music with allusions to Stravinsky to jazz to blues and rock ranges.

Reception

Music critic Mike Fish saw in Burnt Weeny Sandwich a more successful album as Uncle Meat, since the Mothers acted as a band. The Little House I Used to Live in his prototypical jazz-rock, which was not boring because of the "soft power " by Don Preston, Don Harris and Frank Zappa. The Doo - Wop - piece Valarie was Zappa's farewell to the rock and roll era. The Anglist Kelly Fisher Lowe called the album Weasels Ripped My Flesh along with a " wildcard albums", as the collections of Mothers materials a musical step back away from the experimental music that Zappa had created until then constituted.

Publications

As the CD album digitally revised in 1991 appeared on the labels: Barkin Pumpkin ( U.S. market ), Zappa Records (Europe) and Barkin Pumpkin / MSI ( Japan / Asia). A new plant with improved Remix and with revised cover was released in 1995 on Rykodisc and Vack.
