Bury

Bury is a town in the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester is approximately 13 km north of the center of Manchester in England. It has about 61,000 inhabitants (2001) and is the administrative seat of the homonymous Bury Metropolitan Borough with approximately 182,000 inhabitants. In the north of the city lies a moor landscape and to the south borders the city on the River Irwell.

The most famous son of the city is Robert Peel. According to him, the English police officers are named as Bobbies or Peelers.

Traffic

Bury is the terminus of the Metrolink light rail line Bury Line, which connects Bury to the center of Manchester. Buses complement the transport service.
