Bus Éireann

Bus Éireann ( pronunciation [ bʊs e ː ɾ ʲ ɘn ], Irish for "Bus of Ireland " ) is an Irish bus company that covers a large part of the national public passenger transport in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. In 2007, the company transported claims to 96 million passengers.

Bus Éireann, which was founded in 1987 as an independent company, is now a subsidiary of Córas Iompair Éireann. The seat of the company is Busáras - the central bus station - in Dublin. Bus Éireann provides other than regular services between cities with the transportation of students, and rides in some British cities.

In addition to Bus Éireann, there are some other companies, but with much less importance, offering bus connections between some major cities of Ireland, for example, City Link, JJ Kavanagh, aircoach or Translink. Bus Éireann is the national public transport in competition with Iarnród Éireann, the Irish railways. The public transport in Dublin and in the area of the former County Dublin is served mainly by Dublin Bus.
