The Busan -Asia -Main Stadium ( Kor.: 부산 아시아드 주 경기장 ) is a multi-purpose stadium with facilities for athletics in the second largest South Korean city of Busan.

History

The stadium was built for the 2002 Asian Games, which were held from 29 September to 14 October 2002. Among other things, found the opening and closing ceremonies held at the sports complex. Work on the arena started in November 1993 and lasted until mid-2001. The inauguration was celebrated on 15 September 2001. It has a seating capacity for 55,982 spectators. The stadium roof is constructed as an upwardly open dome. The building has a length of 241 m and a width of 227 m.

As a venue for the World Cup 2002, Busan hosts three group matches. In the years 2003, 2005 and 2007 Games of the Peace Cup soccer tournament in Busan Asia -Main Stadium took place. Since 2003, the Classic K League franchise Busan I'Park plays its home matches at the Stadium of Busan. The stadium is located with other sports venues in Busan Sports Complex. In addition to the arena an athletics stadium and the immediate vicinity is located the multi-purpose hall Sajik arena with 15,000 seats; the Sajik Baseball Stadium, where the Lotte Giants play, with approximately 30,000 seats and the Sajik swimming arena.
