Busby Berkeley

Busby Berkeley ( born November 29, 1895 in Los Angeles, California, † March 14, 1976 in Palm Springs, California; actually William Berkeley Enos ) was an influential Hollywood movie director and choreographer, who was known for his musical productions with complex geometric figures in which he used a large number of dancers as geometric elements.

Like many other directors of his time, began his career as a theater director Berkeley. But unlike many colleagues of his time he looked at the camera as something movable and felt that this mobility should be used to allow the film audience perspectives and viewpoints of people and things that were the theater audience is not possible through the invariable position of the stage. Through his work, he managed to make the movie musical to a separate class with its own authorization. He was nominated 1935-1937 three times in a row for an Oscar in the category of Best Dance Director.

Busby Berkeley was married from 1934 to 1935 with the actress Merna Kennedy.

He died in Palm Springs at the age of 80 years.
