Buschi Niebergall

John " Buschi " Niebergall, actually Hans -Helmut Niebergall ( born July 18, 1938 in Marburg, † January 9, 1990 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German musician.

Niebergall was bassist and co-founder of several significant free-jazz formations of Germany in the mid -1960s who dared the first steps towards an independent European free jazz. He also was one of the first bass players in Europe, who played free improvised music. Niebergall studied in Cologne music. He appeared in 1964 in Gunter Hampel's plate " Heartplants " and Manfred Schoof "Voices" with. He also worked with many of the major free improvisers of his generation, including with Peter Brötzmann, Don Cherry, Alfred Harth, Evan Parker, Alexander von Schlippenbach, Irène Schweizer, John Tchicai and since its founding in 1966 with the Globe Unity Orchestra. In the first half of the 1970s he belonged to a quintet or quartet of Albert Mangelsdorff. From about 1980 he lived in retirement in Frankfurt aM and only worked in the jazz & poetry projects.
