Buseto Palizzolo

Buseto Palizzolo is a municipality in the province of Trapani in Sicily region of Italy with 3042 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Location and data

Buseto Palizzolo located 23 kilometers east of Trapani and 25 miles south of San Vito Lo Capo, at an altitude of 249 m asl. Residents living on an area of ​​72 km ² on the merits of agriculture. As a specialty here the yellow melon is grown (Cucumis Melo ).

The neighboring municipalities are Calatafimi Segesta, Castellammare del Golfo, Custonaci, Erice, Trapani and Valderice.

History

The town was founded by the Byzantines. In the Middle Ages the Arabs lived in the place. In 1950, the city became independent. The town's name comes from the Arabic of Butish, earth and family Palizzolo, which belonged to the place in the past.
