Busia District

Busia is a district in south-east Uganda with 228 181 inhabitants. The capital is the same Busia.

The district was separated from the district of Tororo on 20 March 1997. It is divided into the district Samia - Bugwe, which is in turn divided into 10 sub-districts and one municipality. These in turn are divided into 34 municipalities and 474 individual communities.

The major agricultural producer goods are coffee, peanuts, cotton and soybeans. More widely produced in subsistence goods are millet, maize, sorghum, sweet potatoes and cassava. The average farm size is 2.5 ha

The most common languages ​​are Samia - Lugwe, Ateso, Swahili, Luganda and Lugisu.

Traffic

The district has about 710 km of paved roads, of which 30 km are paved and 56 km gravel covered.
