Business Process Discovery

As a Business Process Discovery (short: BPD) describes an approach to monitor business processes in information technology (IT). Here are the data on the processes quasi "bottom up" collected automatically. This data is used to identify the basis for the process mapping with the objective of process errors in interconnected value chains.

As the field of use offers, among other things, asset management in IT. Complex processes such as the life cycle of hardware ( purchase planning, financing, procurement, distribution, supply, maintenance, disposal) can be monitored through the collection of user-specific data from interactions on the detailed observation and continuously improved.

Advantage of the method

  • In contrast to the survey as a survey method for the characterization and monitoring of business processes process gaps can be quickly and promptly recognized and documented on a very detailed level of a process due to the mechanical survey.

Disadvantage of the method

  • The monitoring of processes in companies is often co-determination as soon as the relevant user behavior is to be observed as a subject. The monitoring of interactions of employees is an integral part of the BPD.
  • BPD is related to value chains, ie, can be used beyond the confines of individual organizations (service providers, customers ) away. In practice, difficult negotiations with corporate bodies may be required, which possibly lead to delays.
