Bussigny-sur-Oron

Bussigny -sur -Oron was until 31 December 2011, a municipality in the district of Lavaux-Oron in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. On January 1, 2012, it merged with Oron.

Geography

Bussigny -sur -Oron is at 768 m above sea level. M., 3 km east of the town Oron- la -Ville and 19 km east-northeast of the canton capital Lausanne ( straight line ). With 77 inhabitants ( 31 December 2010) Bussigny -sur -Oron was one of the smallest municipalities in the canton of Vaud. The population of Bussigny -sur -Oron amounted in 1850 to 58 inhabitants in 1900 to 83 inhabitants. History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1433 under the name Bussignye. The name goes back to the Gallo-Roman personal name Bussenius. Since its first occurrence was Bussigny -sur -Oron Oron to rule, which was under the Counts of Greyerz since the 15th century. After the conquest of Vaud by Bern rule Oron 1557 was converted into a Bernese bailiff, and introduced the Reformation in the village.
