Buster Edwards

Buster Edwards ( born January 27, 1931November 28, 1994 in Lambeth, London, real name Ronald Christopher Edwards) was a former boxer, nightclub owner, and member of the gang, the (English: Great Train Robbery 1963) the big Postzugraub performed. He married June Rose since 1952. Nicky is their daughter.

The raid on the mail train

On August 8, 1963 Edwards coincided with Ronald Biggs, Bruce Reynolds, Charlie Wilson ( " The Silent " ), Roy James ( " The Weasel " ), Thomas Wisbey, Robert Welch, Gordon Goody, James Hussey, Rodger Cordrey, James White and some unknowns at 3:10 clock in the morning the royal mail train from Glasgow to London. The train was brought to a halt at Sears Crossing in Ledburn, near Mentmore in Buckinghamshire, by a manipulated train signal and 1.5 km further down to Bridego Bridge. One of the train robbers ( Edwards allegedly ) beat the train driver Jack Mills down that it was a concussion and a lasting trauma. Mills died seven years later from leukemia.

The booty consisted of 120 money bags with £ 2,631,684 (in today's value about £ 40 million or 48 million euros ).

Buster later fled with his family to Acapulco, Mexico where he met Bruce Reynolds and Charlie Wilson and lived with Reynolds and his family. Wilson, meanwhile, had fled to Canada.

However, from homesickness and lack of money, he returned in 1966 via Cologne back to England, was later caught and sentenced to 15 years in prison. After the premature dismissal in 1975 he ran a flower stall at London's Waterloo station station.

1988 was a film about his role in Postzugraub. He was played by Phil Collins and by his nickname Buster ( boy, it means in the world by half handle, even Bonecrusher ) named.

In 1994 he was at the age of 63 years hanged himself in the garage of his brother found dead.
