Butjadingen

Butjadingen is a municipality in the district of Weser march in the northwestern Lower Saxony. It is located on the peninsula on the North Sea coast, which is bordered on the southwest by the gulf, the west and northwest by the Innenjade and in the east and in the north east of the Weser River and its estuary. Geographical Location

The municipality Butjadingen occupies the northwestern part of the peninsula Butjadingen. The environment consists of marshland and is sparsely populated.

Neighboring communities

The community is surrounded for the most part of the North Sea. In the east and south-east it borders the city Nordenham and on the south by the municipality of Urban land. All three municipalities are part of the district Weser march and form the northern part of the county.

History

The municipality Butjadingen is located on the peninsula Butjadingen, which has formed in the Middle Ages, designed as a large storm surges the course of today's North Sea coast. After the Second Marcellus 1362 Butjadingen was temporarily an island north of Heete. Until the Middle Ages the area of autonomous community Rüstringen Frisian country, the terra Rustringie in which was the Frisian freedom and Member of the Frisian lakeland had belonged. In 1933 by Administrative Reform Act, the merger of the municipalities Eckwarden, Tossens, Cross Warden, Burhave, Waddens and Stollhamm the new community Burhave. Parish council

The municipal council consists of 18 Council Butjadingen women and councilors. This is the fixed number for a municipality with a population of 6001-7000 people. The 18 council members are elected through local elections for five years. The current term of office began on 1 November 2011.

The turnout in the local elections of 2011 was 59.12 %, well above the Lower Saxony average of 52.5 %. For comparison - in the previous local elections on 10 September 2006, the turnout was 63.54 %.

Mayor

The current incumbent Rolf Blumenberg was elected full-time mayor of the municipality again on 24 September 2006. The non-party prevailed in a runoff election with 54.71 % against supported by the CDU candidate Uwe Diekmann. The turnout in the runoff was 54.76 %.

The coat of arms of the municipality Butjadingen shows in the left half of the upright lion and in the right half of the two Oldenburg bar. The colors of the municipality are red -gold ( arranged horizontally ).

Culture and sights

In the village of Lang Warden of St. Lawrence Church houses the oldest organ Butjadingen. It was probably built in 1650 by Hermann Kröger from Berne, in collaboration with Berendt Huss at the highest level. A few years later, the pedal towers were added. Arp Schnitger built 1704/ 05 to the organ by exchanging the mixtures and reeds. While Schnitger register later, all were replaced, the work of Kröger / Hus is largely original. A special feature of the major organ is the construction with Spring store. The church tower was the mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss as a survey point, and long- Warden was mapped in 1989 as part of a geodetic network to the 10- DM notes.

The art promenade stretches on the way from Burhave after Fedderwardersiel. In a four-week sculpture symposium under the direction of Prof. Bernd Altenstein created seven renowned artists from the Federal Republic of works of art of different materials like wood, stone, metal and marble. The National Museum Fedderwardersiel is housed in a listed building from 1846, located directly at the fishing port of Fedderwardersiel. Originally, the building once served as a control office of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg. Since 1994, the museum has a varied exhibition on the natural and cultural sites of the " Butjenter coast". Focus of the exhibition is the affiliation of the coast to the National Park Wadden Sea, the life in the Lower Saxon Wadden Sea and the development of conservation thought.

The Gallery at Wehlhamm in Ruhwarden shows mostly paintings, graphics and craft work north German artist. The type of work varies from originals to limited edition prints, unique on glass, ceramic and wood, as well as sculptures. In addition to the exhibitions, the gallery holds regular art openings, readings, slide lectures and seminars. The gallery is one of the founders of TIDE art and culture weeks Butjadingen, a meeting that since 1986 annual series of events.

Economy and infrastructure

The municipality Butjadingen is located in the catchment area of two daily newspapers. These are the Northwest newspaper with its local part " Weser Marsch- Zeitung" and the county newspaper Weser march.

Education

In the municipality Butjadingen there is a primary school in Burhave, which is conducted as a reliable primary school. Its sponsor is the community.
