Butler is a city and county seat in Choctaw County, Alabama, United States. According to an official estimate ds 2006, the city had a population of 1,770 with a population density of 122.1 inhabitants per km ².

The area of the town is 14.5 km ², which account for all of it land.
Demography
At the time of the census of 2000, lived in the city in 1952 people. The population density was 134.6 people per km ². There were 945 housing units at an average 65.2 per km ². The Butlers population consisted of 81.56 % White, 17.88 % African American, 0.26 % Native American, 0.31 % Asian, 0.61 % said to belong to other ethnic groups, and 0.31 % from two or more races. 0.61 % of the population to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
