Bwa people

The Bwaba (also Bwawa, singular: Bwa or Bwani, depending on the dialect ) are an ethnic group whose settlement area called Bwamu, located in the West African countries of Burkina Faso and Mali.

The name was Bobo and is used both to Bwaba and the ethnicity of the Bobo and both designate collectively. Guy Le Moal examined the self- designations of the two groups and recommended their use in order to avoid further confusion. The Bwaba are known mainly for its artistic masks that have very abstract shapes. To her art include figurines, bronze and pottery products.

The author and politician Nazi Boni gave his home dedicated to Roman Crépuscule des temps anciens (1962 ), considered the beginning of the Burkinabe literature, the subtitle Chronique du Bwamu (French, history of Bwamu ').
