BWI Center for Industrial Management

The BWI Studing center at ETH Zurich (formerly operating Scientific Institute of the ETH ) conducts operations research as well as teaching and services for the ETH and commercial enterprises.

History

The private sector Society for Advancement of operation Research Institute ( BWI) was founded on 26 June 1929 the CPI itself was opened on 1 October 1929, along with a library.

Today, the BWI part of the department D -MTEC Management, Technology and Economics.

Currently relate 650 companies and individual clients per year benefits from BWI. Herein, the subscribers of io new management are not included.

Research

The research of the BWI in the areas of logistics, operations and supply chain management, global service management and service innovation is aimed at technology-intensive companies and addresses questions and challenges along their value. The aim of applied research at BWI is the extraction of generalizable recommendations for the entrepreneurial decision-making on the basis of practice-relevant problems.

Management training

The " BWI Management Training" organized seminars and workshops since 1931. About 150 seminars are conducted with 400 days of training per year. The public tender seminars include 45 tracks and come from the four thematic areas of project management, leadership, supply chain management, and management techniques. The in-house seminars are " in-house" by default run seminars for companies from the machine industry, information and communications industry, medical, banking, insurance, chemicals / pharmaceuticals, public administration.

Magazine io new management

The BWI is the editor of Management Journal " io new management". The magazine was founded in 1932 as the "Industrial Organization " ( io ). It is published 10 times a year, today laid by the Axel Springer Switzerland. The production for 2008 was 4428 copies according to WEMF (AG for Werbemedienforschung Switzerland ).

Erfa group

The experience of group production and information management ( PIM ERFA Group ) is a working group of industry and university and deals with the issues of production, logistics, and information management. The aim of the Experience- PIM group is to inform their members about trends and to promote the exchange of experiences.
