Byep (also Maka, Makya, Meka, MEKae, Mekay, Mekey, Mekye, Mika and Moka ) is a Bantu language and is spoken by about 9500 people in Cameroon ( census 1988).
It is used by people of Makaa in the districts of Haut- Nyong and Lom -et- Djerem in the province Est.
Classification
Byep is a Northwest Bantu language and is part of the Makaa - Njem group that is classified as Guthrie Zone A80.
It has the dialect Besep (also Besha and Bindafum ).
