History

The municipality was created on 26 October 2003, the voluntary merger of the previously independent municipalities Byhleguhre ( BELA Góra ) and Byhlen ( Belin ).

Byhleguhre

Byhleguhre was first mentioned in 1315 as " Belgar " documentary. The name comes from the Lower Sorbian and means White Mountain. Byhleguhre should have been held before 1740 at a different location in the vicinity of this mountain. By arson of a beggar burned the entire village and the inhabitants built it on the site again, where it is found today. In 1815 the Lower Lausitz in Prussian possession. In the era of National Socialism Byhleguhre was called " Geroburg " because the place is associated with the Margrave Gero. Since the end of the Second World War, the place is called Byhleguhre again.

Byhlen

Byhlen was first documented in 1340 and belonged to the rule Straupitz. In the era of National Socialism of the Sorbian -sounding place name in Waldsee village was converted in 1937.
