Byrgius (crater)

Byrgius is an impact crater on the lunar front side, southeast of the crater Darwin and northwest of Vieta.

The rim is heavily eroded. On the western edge of the crater is of secondary craters Byrgius A, which shows a conspicuous ray system.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Swiss watchmaker and astronomers Jost Bürgi.
