Byron G. Stout

Byron Gray Stout ( born January 12, 1829 in Richmond, Ontario County, New York, † June 19, 1896 in Pontiac, Michigan ) was an American politician. Between 1891 and 1893 he represented the state of Michigan in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1831, Byron Stout came with his parents in the Michigan Territory, where he attended the public schools. Then he studied until 1851 at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. In addition, he was still studying law. In 1853 and 1854 he was principal and teacher at Pontiac High School. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Democratic Party. In the years 1855 and 1857 he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Michigan, which he was president in 1857. In 1860 Stout was a member and President of the State Senate. In the years 1868, 1880 and 1888 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions relevant. Before 1869 Stout was also temporarily in the banking industry operates.

In the congressional elections of 1890 he was in the sixth constituency of Michigan in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Mark S. Brewer on March 4, 1891. Since he resigned in 1892 to further candidacy, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1893. After retiring from Congress to Stout withdrew from politics. Between 1893 and 1896 he was president of the Oakland County Bank. He died on June 19, 1896 in Pontiac, where he was also buried.
